{"id":6853,"date":"2015-02-21T06:51:27","date_gmt":"2015-02-21T06:51:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/marvmis.simid.cloud\/?p=6853"},"modified":"2017-05-09T02:11:34","modified_gmt":"2017-05-09T02:11:34","slug":"palau-yap-part-1-palau","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/marvmis.simid.cloud\/?p=6853","title":{"rendered":"Palau &#038; Yap &#8211; Part 1-Palau"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After much umming and aahing we decided to go to Palau and Yapo for Simons 40th Birthday. &nbsp;We made some initial enqueries with a local specialty travel agent, but they weren\u2019t that helpful as it was too far in advance to get proper information on flights and they aren\u2019t able to book the Siren. SO we waited a bit and then booke the Palau Siren with Worldwide Dive and Sail. All done through email and Pay Pal. Their people were very helpfull and patient. We then booked the flights ourselves and &nbsp;organised as package deal on Yap.<\/p>\n<h3>GETTING THERE:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Christchurch to&nbsp;&nbsp;Sydney (Yuk \u2013 we hate having to get off the plane to go through customs for no reason before getting back on the same plane)<\/li>\n<li>8 hr stop in &nbsp;Taipei (Taiwan) where we had free showers.<\/li>\n<li>Themed departure gates<\/li>\n<li>Helped out a student by doing a whole interview\/questionnaire on airports<\/li>\n<li>Short 3.5 hr flight from Taipei to Palau. Freezing cold on the plane. &nbsp;Mostly asians on the plane. Flight attendants taking naps in the back as the plane wasn\u2019t very full.<\/li>\n<li>Immigration &nbsp;at Koror Palau was PAINFULLY slow. Well over and hour in the queue.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"ngg-singlepic ngg-none\" src=\"https:\/\/marvmis.simid.cloud\/wp-content\/gallery\/20150221-palau\/001-Google-map.JPG\" alt=\"001 Google map\"><\/p>\n<h3>&nbsp;<\/h3>\n<h3>THE SIREN:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Fantastic! Nice accommodation, great food, friendly staff, excellent diving.<\/li>\n<li>Wake up, have snack, go diving, have breakfast, go diving,have lunch, go diving, have snack, go diving, &nbsp;have dinner, go to sleep<\/li>\n<li>Did our Nitrox certification on board<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"ngg-singlepic ngg-none\" src=\"https:\/\/marvmis.simid.cloud\/wp-content\/gallery\/20150221-palau\/20150222-05568.jpg\" alt=\"20150222-05568\"><\/p>\n<h3>&nbsp;<\/h3>\n<h3>THE DIVING<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Simon went night diving on the first night<\/li>\n<li>Lots of sharks<\/li>\n<li>Mantas at German&nbsp;Wall<\/li>\n<li>German Channel was one of our favourites<\/li>\n<li>So much life at Blue Corner<\/li>\n<li>Chandelier cavern on the last day.
