So a week or two after the Aspiring trip, Simon eventually went to the doctors mostly cos his shoulder was sore and he thought he had hurt it, the nurses however picked up an irregular heartbeat and it turns out his mitral valve prolapse had worsened severely. It explained why he felt so crap on the Aspiring trip, and also why he had felt a bit dizzy on the Mt Owen trip.
After a series of doctors visits, a failed reboot in May, much anguish and stress over immigration residence visas and timing of surgery, he eventually had his mitral valve repaired at St Georges. Recovery took quite a bit longer as he had somehow lost a lot of blood during the surgery and was severely anemic, and he had to have a few more trips to the hospital to sort out a his heart getting confused as to how its suppose to beat, but at least the problem had been identified and fixed.
